Storefront Studios offers professional photography for your products. Amy Hobbs, owner, ensures a seamless process by working with clients step by step to handle all details, from product delivery to return.  We are thrilled to welcome Amy back to Porter Flea Holiday and she will be photographing their products behind the scenes.

1. If you could travel anywhere with your favorite people to spend time with during the holidays, where would you go?

I just picture a cabin deep in the woods somwhere. There's a bit of snow on the ground, and a fire in a fireplace. I'd just want a quiet, cozy holiday with family...and lots and lots of baked goods.

2.Nashville business owner that inspires you the most?

I follow Elizabeth Suzann's work and am always inspired by it. I have just one piece from her, and would love to fill my closet with her clothes. One day!

3.Name a vendor(s) you are looking forward to seeing at Porter Flea.

I love seeing my girl Jenny Luckett who owns January Moon. She's one of several Storefront Studios clients who are Porter Flea vendors. Her products are so beautiful and fun to photograph.

SPONSOR: JACKALOPE BREWERY

Screen Shot 2018-11-24 at 1.21.00 PM.png

Jackalope Brewing entered the Nashville scene in 2011, founded by Bailey Spaulding and Robyn Virball.  We have proudly partnered with them over the years to ensure our attendees the pleasure of tasty brews while shopping. Thanks to Jackalope! Bailey was kind enough to answer a few of our questions.

1. If you could travel anywhere with your favorite people to spend time with during the holidays, where would you go?

Oh man that's a tough one! Probably the Swiss Alps, because I do love snow and skiing, especially at the holidays. It would definitely be somewhere that I could have a nice hot chocolate (with Bailey's) and maybe a massage after a long day playing outside in the snow.

2. Nashville business owner that inspires you the most?

Not to sound like a Porter Flea suck-up, but Matt Alexander at Holler Design has shown some serious resolve and strength of character this year.  When his brand spankin' new workshop burned down this summer, he almost immediately called us to assure us that our furniture would be on time. With all he was going through, he was the one putting others at ease!  And then got right to work at version 2.0 of the new shop. That is serious dedication to your craft!

3. Name a vendor(s) you are looking forward to seeing at Porter Flea.

Little Seed Farm!  We have known those fine folks for years and as we all get busier and busier, it's always great to know we'll see each other at Porter Flea. The same goes with Otis James.

In 2012 Nathanael Mehrens had an idea that would change the face of Nashville specialty coffee forever: coffee soda. A cold, carbonated coffee drink that’s subtly flavored with orange: slightly sweet and so refreshing. It quickly became a local hit and Mehrens, along with his partners Jamie Cunningham and Sean Stewart approached Ben Bredesen (Owner of Fat Bottom Brewery) about helping them to turn their coffee soda into a viable brand.  He, along with his partners, invented a way to brew large batches of coffee that maintained the character and terroir of its origin. This means that the taste can vary slightly season by season. During this time, the trio simultaneously opened their own café in germantown called Steadfast Coffee and put their coffee soda creation on tap there. It soon became an award winning local Nashville favorite and one of their top sellers. We are proud to partner with Matchless and hope you will enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee soda while shopping.

1. What Nashvillian inspires you the most?

Currently my mind goes to James Shaw Jr., a real American hero.

2. Favorite Summer activity in Nashville?

My husband and I like to find bodies of water to dip our dog (Pig) into. He hates it just as much as we love it.

3. Are you a beach or pool person?

Neither? I’m more of a stay-dry-in-a-hammock-under-a-shady-tree kind of person.

4. What has surprised you the most about being a part of the business scene in Nashville?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I just adore my clients. It’s been so lovely to meet fellow hustlers in this town, out there trying to make things happen. It’s truly a privilege to be a small part of this community of makers.

5. Favorite summer drink?

G&Ts forever.

The community driven environment and hustle that all small business owners have.

Jackalope Brewing entered the Nashville scene in 2011, founded by Bailey Spaulding and Robyn Virball.  In 2013, Jackalope became the first Nashville craft brewery to can its beer. Robyn left the brewery in 2014 to pursue other interests, and Bailey, Steve, and the entire Jackalope team continue to grow our dream into what it is today. They distribute throughout Middle Tennessee, as well as Chattanooga and Memphis, and maintain a commitment to quality beer and community, all while having a little bit of fun. We have proudly partnered with them over the years to ensure our attendees the pleasure of tasty brews while shopping.

1. What Nashvillian inspires you the most?

Van Tucker is such a thoughtful, amazing person, and has done so much to foster the beautiful spirit of our city. She inspires me to think outside of the box and to make fulfilling connections that can make a good thing even better.

2. Favorite Summer activity in Nashville?

I love going for a hike in Percy Warner Park followed by a trip to Las Paletas.

3. Are you a beach or pool person?

BOTH! Though in reality, I barely make it to either. Sigh.

4. What has surprised you the most about being a part of the business scene in Nashville?

Becoming connected to a lot of other people hustling and following their dreams has been such a wonderful, unexpected treat!

5. Favorite summer drink?

My husband and I made up a cocktail with our Lovebird beer: two parts Lovebird (strawberry/raspberry hefeweizen), one part Lillet blanc, and one part prosecco, with big springs of fresh mint. It's so tasty and refreshing!

NEW SPONSOR: WEST ELM

This year, west elm LOCAL will sponsor 4 booths for Nashville based west elm LOCAL artists including:

Bean and Bailey

Bean and Bailey ceramics is a southern duo producing small-batch functional porcelain pots. Our contemporary slip-cast ceramics address the needs for containing, serving, consuming, displaying, growing, and showing. We use colored porcelain slip to construct both subtly organic forms, as well as faceted vessels inspired by natural crystals and gems.

Bubo Handmade

Kristen Faircloth has always had a love for handbags, purses and shoes. She loves to scour antique shops and junk stores for vintage pieces and dissect their construction.

While pursuing her undergrad in Literature, she would often find myself putting off school work to sit at her sewing machine and make bags and wallets for friends and family (or just for herself!).   She later returned to  school to receive a Masters Degree at the Savannah College of Art & Design.  She has worked with many companies designing products and lived all over the country.   It's been a long, strange journey to get where she is now, and she wouldn't trade a moment of it.

DCXV Industries

Born and raised in Nashville, artist Adrien Saporiti started DCXV to share his art & represent his hometown (DCXV are the Roman numerals for 615, the Nashville area code).

Garner Blue

GarnerBlueFall15-233+(1).jpg

Hand dyed indigo textiles and accessories to wear and to decorate at home. Working out of her home studio in Tennessee, Lou Garner dyes with natural indigo yielding sublime shades. Her patterns are based on a modern shibori method as well as a stencil & rice paste resist method -- utilizing everything from river rocks & wooden blocks to cassette tapes & laser-cut forms to create patterns on natural fibers.

In 2013, west elm launched LOCAL in just two stores. Since then, they've expanded to include LOCAL in all their U.S. stores—and some beyond. Each LOCAL maker lives + works near a west elm store, supporting craft + creativity in their community. To date, west elm LOCAL has introduced customers to the work of 800+ neighboring artisans while making each of our stores a local community connector.
